Need Blind

A college is need-blind if it does not consider a family’s finances when deciding to admit a student.

Application Deadlines
  1. Early Decision – Offered by selective public and private institutions.  It is a contractually binding decision.  This option is for students who are positive that this the one and only college that they want to attend. The admit rate with Early Decision is sometimes twice as high as the admit rate in Regular Decision.
  2. Early Action – Offered by selective public and private institutions.  The student who applies under an Early Action program is not contractually bound to attend the college if admitted. There is still a statistical advantage to applying Early Action at most colleges.
  3. Rolling Admissions – Students may submit application as soon as they are available in early fall; and often receive decisions in 2-6 weeks if all supporting documentation is received in a timely manner. Admission decisions are continual whilespaces are available in the freshman class.
  4. Regular Decision – Last or only available deadline for applying.

Gap Year

Grant vs. Scholarship
